How will I get my prescription medication overseas?

Question by Josh: How will I get my prescription medication overseas?
I’m going to be volunteering for a few months in South America. How do I go about getting my prescription medication while I’m there?

it depends on the kind of medication and what country u r going. most of times u do not need even a prescription to buy medicine at drugstore.
If u bring with you a medical a summary of your sickness and the treatment u have to follow, the dosage u need and for how long u will need it, all legal, then u can visit there a doctor and show that. Doctor can ask you for some test to prove u need it or simply can give u a prescription, U also can bring your test results.
Only be sure that the medicine u need is available in the place u r going on.

You’ll need to get your prescriptions filled for the time you are away and bring it with you. Keep medication in its original bottles (with the prescription on it) and in your carry-on luggage. You’ll also need to check to make sure your medication is legal in the countries where you’ll be going. Even common medications in North America can be illegal in other countries. If that ends up being the case, you’ll need to get a prescription for an equivalent medication that is allowed.

If you have a lot of meds, or anything unusual/very strong, get your doctor to write a note explaining that the medications are for legit. purposes. That way you’ll be covered in case any questions are asked.

I would ask the organization with whom you are volunteering. I am sure this is a question that they must get from time to time and, if they are smart, then they know how to deal with that kind of issue.
