Q&A: What are the side effects of taking prenatal vitamins if you are not pregnant?

Question by BeachBabie: What are the side effects of taking prenatal vitamins if you are not pregnant?
What are the side effects of taking prenatal vitamins if you are not pregnant, not planning on becoming pregnant, and never was pregnant in the past?

I heard they encourage hair growth which is what I desire but I am just wondering what the other side effects are?

Nothing bad hun. Prenatals are the cream of the crop in vitamin terms. As a teenager I took prenatals instead of a plain multi as they contain much higher levels of Iron. You will probably notice clearer and healthier skin, eyes, and hair, and generally feel much more energetic and have a better immune system. I also take a brand with mercury-free fish oil in, which is the highest grade fish oil you can take.

What do you think? Answer below!

There aren’t really any side effects. They contain no hormones or anything. It’s just a really strong vitamin. I also take them and I’m not pregnant. I’m planning on trying to become pregnant next year and my doctor said it’s good to take them ahead of time so my body is ready for a baby when it happens. When you first start taking them they might upset your stomach because they are strong. Especially if you take them on an empty stomach. They make me nauseous if I do that. But usually after taking them for a while they don’t upset my stomach anymore. They will make your hair and nails look better, healthier and stronger.
