A locomotive of the Panama Canal railroad, painted for the US Bi-Centennial in 1976. Sorry for the poor quality; lots of little fingers pored over my photos when I came back from Panama in 1977. Back then, you could ride from the Pacific side to the Atlantic side for .50! .00 if you wanted to ride in air-conditioned comfort.

Panama City, Panama

The walled section of Panama City known as Casco Viejo was founded in 1671 after the pirate Henry Morgan destroyed the older Panama Viejo townsite. Today it is a mix of crumbling buildings and beautifully restored structures.

This photo was taken on a walking tour of Casco Viejo as part of a shore excursion with Princess Cruise Lines.
